Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With String

My friend, Debbie, recently had a birthday.  We celebrated in my home with a girly luncheon that included a zucchini quiche and strawberry spinach salad along with a sorbet bar and brown paper packages tied up with string.  Take a look at our girly fun.

I wrote on a tag "Brown paper packages tied up with string. Happy Birthday!" Inside this large brown paper bag were several packages tied up with string and of course wrapped in brown paper.

The brown paper packages tied up with string were topped with the following vintage ephemera: Bingo card, snaps, button card, post card and black and white photo of a boy in a party hat blowing out candles.

Book wrapping

I wrapped up two vintage books for Debbie to turn into altered books. I used a library pocket and a library card for the gift card. Tied on a party blower and added some stickers and I think they came out to be quite the "themed" gifts.

Sorbet dessert

I served a sorbet bar for dessert.  I tied up wooden spoons onto jelly jars for our “bowls”.  The fudge and raspberry fudge came from a recent trip I took to Kalona, Iowa.  It was alot of deliciousness in a small jar!  We started all dignified in a seated position eating our sorbet but on round two we stood around the bar in all manner of speaking eating and sampling different combinations.  Who can resist mango, strawberry, raspberry, and lemon sorbets?  Certainly not us!
