Girls & Gab

Recently some colleagues and I had our 5th Annual Girls & Gab.  You know we girls love to do the girl thing.  We choose a day at the end of the school year every year to go out shopping and…you guessed it,  we also gab together and eat (After all, what girl isn’t proficient at those skills?).  We did indeed accomplish those tasks like experts!  Every year we choose different stores. If you live in the Phoenix area, our route this year included the following wonderful stops:

Starbucks

Lizabel’s Treasures

Thrift stores

Lunch at McAlpines (they have the BEST French and Italian sodas – not to mention chocolate malts!)

Zinnia’s Antiques

Melrose Market

Magpie’s Nest

Antiques on Camelback (except they were just closing)

For the Love of Old

Dinner at Habit off of Glendale

A full day of treasure hunting yielded some interesting and fun results.  My best buy of the day was a $24 vintage Thrifty shopping cart.  I plan on using it to wheel my wrapping paper out of my gifts closet in my studio when I need it.  It should come in handy for that.  I also ended up with a gorgeous, ornate, silver urn for $32.  I’m thinking of filling it with antique lace in my studio.  I found some ephemera (some I put in the altered books I just made – see the altered book post).  I’m using an old record holder to organize printables I find on line for free.   Here are some photos of my friends and I from our Girls & Gab:

Stop one

Stop one: Starbucks...while I don't drink it - the girls had to coffee up. Any smart girl knows to honor another girl's need for her coffee. Back row: Andrea, Janka, Carol, and Diane Front Row: Yours truly & Kathy Our friends Peg & Sue joined us later in the morning.

Stop 2: Lizabel's Treasures

Lizabel's Treasures proved to be a gold-mine for me. Most of my treasures for the day I purchased here. I have several things in my home from this shop. If you are in Phoenix - be sure not to miss this great store on 16th Street.

Zinnia's Antiques

Peg & Sue caught up with us at the thrift stores....here we are getting more treasures at Zinnias Antiques off of Indian School & 7th Ave. Andrea and Diane had to depart us for other committments. Why in the world I didn't think to get a photo of all of us at lunch I don't know...probably because I was consumed with my black bean veggie burger, Raspberry soda and chocolate malt!

We had a great 5th annual Girls & Gab and look forward to trip 6 next June.  What stores would you recommend to us?  We are pretty much pros at the gab part being friends for so many years…and the girly thing – well that can just go unsaid.
